I just finished reading "The Zookeeper's Wife" by Diane Ackerman. Wow what an interesting and impactful book. It is about the Warsaw Zoo, its owners and the animals during the German Occupation. It centers on one family and what they did to hide and aid Jews. I have read lots of WWII books and this one ranks right up there. It has some different insights as to what the Nazis were doing and why that I have not read before. It always amazes me what some people will do for their fellow human beings and this is another life affirming true story detailing the struggles and successes of ordinary people in extraordinary times and it is very beautifully written.
