Dessert for Breakfast

I noticed a picture on Pinterest that looked like my favorite food.  I looked up the recipe and revised it and made it yesterday for breakfast.  It is a cross between bread pudding, coffee cake and french toast.  Wow--was it good.   It looked better before we ate most of it, but you get the idea.

1 loaf sourdough or texas toast bread cut into cubes
8 eggs
2 cups milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
3/4 cup sugar
2 Tablespoons vanilla

Topping
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 Tablespoons room temperature butter

Mix together eggs, milk, cream, sugar and vanilla.  Pour over bread and mix together until all the cubes are covered.  Put into glass pan sprayed with PAM.
Mix together topping ingredients with a pastry blender until crumbly.  Sprinkle it over the bread/eggs.
Bake at 350 for 1 hour.  If you like it softer and more pudding like, bake for 45 minutes.
Serve with or without maple syrup.
