Up, Up and Away

We left Salt Lake City yesterday afternoon and arrived at Aix-en-Provence, France this afternoon.   We spent a few hours at the Paris airport before flying to Marseilles.  We then took a van to Aix (pronounced "X") and we checked into the Aquabella Hotel and set off to explore the town.

This is one of the many bell towers that all looked the same.  We got lost using the wrong one to orient ourselves.  There are lots of little stores and lots of little streets that all look the same.

Mark, Shahas and Thorntons.  We are also traveling with two Jepsen couples.

Aix is the hometown of Cezanne, the painter.

Mark saw these retooled Honda Trail 70's and got all excited.  He had one when he was a teenager and loved it.

In my element, a candy, cookie and sweets store--I bought some nougat in another store and it was the best I have ever tasted, like an amazing divinity.

We had a nice dinner here.  The menus were only in French and when we asked for one in English, the nice looking young frenchman said, "If you come to France, you should learn to speak French" and he was serious.  We laughed and just went with our best guess translation.  Mark and I had veal in mushroom cream sauce with french fries and spaghetti pasta.  It was very good.  Randy Thornton ordered a pizza and the waiter went to the pizza joint next door, ordered it and brought it to our table.
