Medieval Weaponry

Patrick has been making and collecting medieval weaponry for many years.  I thought maybe he had grown out of it but he had Friday off from 8th grade and he spent the whole day making a Chinese Repeating Crossbow.  This is added to the many catapults, (one full size pumpkin hucking marvel on wheels), bows, flails, daggers, swords, shields, and armor that seem to multiply while I am sleeping.  I am constantly trying to edit his collection.  

This summer he spent more time making movies with his friends and Mitchell than making weapons.  He needed a stunt double so he wrapped himself in plastic bags and then covered himself in duct tape.  He then carefully cut himself out of the mold and filled it with paper and more plastic.  Then he wrapped it with more duct tape and dressed it in his own clothes.  It looked just like him and he put it around the house where I would jump thinking it was him. He filmed it being thrown off of the balcony and thrown down the stairs.  He threw it off of the roof and introduced it to various other dangerous activities.  I got tired of running into that "Pat".  We planted a nice garden but the birds liked to eat the seeds so Mark asked Patrick to put his double up as a scare-a-crow.  He pounded a pipe into the ground and hit a main sprinkler pipe.  A deep hole soon appeared next to "Pat".  That got fixed and the double did his job and the birds were very afraid.  My neighbor Mike wondered what Patrick was up to watching over the garden.  He finally had to come over and see who it was that never moved.  

Now the garden is put away and cleaned up and the double has seen better days.  The head is off and the clothes are very dirty.  Pat hung him in the tree and filled him full of pencil arrows from the Chinese Repeating Crossbow.  Double is still hanging there.
